This course is designed to help those of us without an
extensive educational background in genetics, understand how genetics is
impacting the field of fisheries. Subjects to be covered include:
---Understanding the basics of conservation genetics: i.e. gene flow, phylogeography,
population structure, etc.
---The utility of the various techniques of genetic analysis: i.e. microsatellite,
protein electrophoresis, polymerase chain reaction, etc.
---How to interpret the results from the various genetic analyses: i.e.
chord diagrams, etc.
